CSR PROGRAMME - TRILINGUAL READING CAMP WITH SJK(C) PEI CHAI

10 December 2022 – Kate DiCamillo has quoted that, reading should not be presented to children as a chore or duty but should be offered to them as a precious gift at which the quote relates well with the main objective of the Trilingual Reading Camp: to provide the primary students an opportunity to learn Malay, English and Chinese language in a thematic and interesting way.

For this reason, Mandarin Language Society (MLS) has organised a Trilingual Reading Camp in collaboration with SJK (C) Pei Chai and Hu Miao Studio that took place in SJK (C) Pei Chai, Kuantan from 8.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

Apart from the main objective, this program also intended to enable university students to guide and facilitate young children. As a result, a total of 26 students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) have volunteered to join and facilitate this camp involving 205 primary school students from SJK (C) Pei Chai (Year 1 to Year 6 students).

The camp also includes notable speakers from Hu Miao Studio, Mr. Ng Kok Keong and Ms. Au Ting Wei who were invited as main storytellers to make the reading camp more interesting.

The trilingual story camp consisted of four main activities which were Ice Breaking session, 2 Storytelling sessions, Crafty Time session, and Little Storytellers Show Up time session where all university and primary students joined enthusiastically and with great interest.

The programme ended on a high note with the participation of the parents. Overall, the objectives of the program were achieved and received excellent feedbacks from the associations involved.
