SPANISH TIKTOK CHALLENGE
15 June 2022 – A Spanish TikTok Challenge programme was successfully organized by the Espansia Club (UMP Spanish Club) from June 11, 2022, to June 19, 2022 via TikTok.
The online programme was offered to all UMP students and it garnered an extraordinary response, especially among students taking Spanish courses on campus.
The objectives of the programme were three-fold:
- To improve students' proficiency in Spanish, in a fun and interactive way.
- To attract students’ interest and motivation in learning Spanish.
- To ensure that students get early exposure to the use of Spanish in natural speaking environment
It was initiated by UMP Spanish Club Advisor, Señora Azlina Mohd Ariffin who also served as the judge of the programme where all videos submission was evaluated based on the pronunciation, fluency, intonation, presentation style, and creativity. Significantly, the views and likes received for the videos on TikTok also contributed to the marks.
The winners are:
1st prize (RM50): Siti Nur Aisyah Mohd Roslan
2nd prize (RM40): Siti Syifrah Hamid
3rd prize (RM30): Ngo Hui Hua
As a whole, the online program ran smoothly and the participants demonstrated excellent commitment as they used TikTok application as a fun resource to boost creativity, to build self-confidence in practicing Spanish pronunciation and speaking in front of a relatable wider target audience.
