UHE3022 CRITICAL THINKING THROUGH LITERATURE

The course aims to use literature as a subject matter that will be explored through the use of various activities which engage students' critical thinking skills. it will introduce representative literary genres: poetry, short story, popular culture, drama/play. This course is suitable for students who are interested in literature and in developing strong critical thinking skills as it guides students toward a greater understanding and appreciation of literature in connection with their own lives. The course is defined within the CEFR high B2 to low C1 level.

By the end of the semester, students should be able to:

CLO1:
interpret a poem critically using relevant literary elements and appropriate language

CLO2:
write a short story demonstrating critical understanding of literary principles by incorporating relevant elements of fictional prose

CLO3:
deliver a critical analysis of the history of music

CLO4:
produce a radio drama demonstrating critical understanding of literary principles by incorporating relevant elements of an audio broadcast
