UHN2513 THE FICTION WRITER

This course provides a fundamental understanding of the life of a fiction writer; addresses what fiction writers are required to do, prepare and experience in writing fiction. It comprises of three modules; The Basics, The Makings of a Great Novel, Time and Space. The course aims to get students to think strategically and plan as a fiction writer, consider exactly what makes a great story as well as finding the fiction category that works best for students as novice fiction writers and their reading audience. It also delves deeply into the important subject of managing time and two crucial issues; writer's block and plagiarism.

Module 1 aims to get students to strategic think and plan as a fiction writer. It delves on the setting goals, pinpointing writing stages of writers, keeping a notebook, getting organised to write, mastering foundation blocks and editing fiction. Module 2  considers exactly what makes a great story and how to find the fiction category that works best for students as novice fiction writers and their reading audience. It takes a look at four common methods writers use to write a novel. Module 3  proposes time management benefits, how to make it works for novice writers to organize themselves, find time to write by creating a writing schedule and setting a working space.  It also touches on two crucial issues; writer’s block and plagiarism.
