7 April 2022 – On the 5th Ramadhan, the 1-hour Broadcast Journalism 101: A Sharing Session webinar organized by the Language Support Unit, Centre of Modern Languages (CML), UMP was successfully held via MS Teams. Generally, this program is an initiative of the Unit to provide the opportunity for the students to learn the basic techniques for preparing news report videos like broadcast journalism and event reporting.

The main objectives of this program were to be a platform to hone the interpersonal skills of UMP students which can be applied in their daily communication. It also aimed to cultivate self-confidence among students to deliver news, information, or current issues either in English or Bahasa Melayu.

The moderator, Ms. Hamizah Zahari kick-started the webinar by inviting the coordinator of the Language Support Unit, CML, Dr. Ezi Haslinda Ngah, to warm up the session and briefed the participants on an upcoming event which is the "Campus Journalist 2022" competition.

The session was then led by the honourable guest speaker, Ms. Faezatul Adilah A. Sabri, an experienced broadcast journalist and media producer from Media Prima Berhad. Among her many projects were the prime time tv show, "Bersamamu" and the tabling of "Bajet 2020" for News Straits Time Press (NSTP).

The program started at 11.00 a.m. and ended at noon with a total of 43 UMP Diploma students and a few CML associates who partook in the session. They were later rewarded with an e-certificate of attendance as a token for attending the event.

Among the highlights of the session, Ms. Faezatul shared some amazing sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes moments of preparing a news report. Besides, participants gained some invaluable tips to appear confident on screen as the skills were of utmost importance to participating in the "Campus Journalist 2022" competition.

In addition, the "Campus Journalist 2022" competition was also officiated on the same day. For the competition, participants needed to visual record themselves presenting the news either as an individual or in a group of 5 (maximum). They can scan the QR codes in the e-poster for the terms and conditions as well as the registration form.
