THE RCP AWARD CEREMONY

23 September 2021 – The RCP curtain had finally been rung down after several rounds of RCP discussion sessions conducted during the preliminary semester with UHL2442 Essential English students. The Award Ceremony which was virtually organized via Microsoft Teams officially signaled the end of this 6-week programme and Mr. Shamsul Harbi was given the honour to host it.

The event began with a welcoming speech by none other than the Programme Director herself, Puan Rosnani Ismail. In her speech, she congratulated the students for plucking up the courage so as to get involved in the series of RCP discussion and due to this, she believed that the programme objectives had been achieved. She ended up her speech by summoning everyone to brave the future by taking one small step at a time towards success. The baton was then passed to the Head of Programme (English Language) Dr. Ruhil Amal Azmuddin for her closing speech. She emphasized the importance of reading in this era of information overload and how new things could be discovered through reading. She wrapped up her speech with a quote by one of the most loved children’s authors, Dr. Seuss, ‘The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go’.

The event was then continued with the announcement of winners by Mr. Shamsul Harbi. Since there could only be one winning group in a section, all groups needed to perform their best in pursuing the most active group title. There were 18 winning groups altogether indicating all 18 sections offered in the preliminary semester and each of the winning group member walked away with a cash reward and an e-certificate. Evidently, the winning groups were chosen based on the members’ active participation during all RCP discussion sessions.

Before reaching the end of the event, the RCP committee managed to squeeze in the programme montage and corporate video for viewing as well as a photography session.
