CML'S STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH IDP EDUCATION LIMITED FOR IELTS EXCELLENCE

24 January 2024 - It was with great pleasure that Centre for Modern Languages (CML) received a visit from Mr. Thinesh Amaresin and Mr. Ravi R Krishnan of IDP Education Limited. Playing a crucial role in streamlining the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam process in Malaysia, IDP Edu. Ltd. contributes to educational progress and the global mobility of students.

The discussion delved beyond the proposal to designate CML as an IELTS Examination Centre (for IELTS Computer-Based Exam) for the east coast region, emphasising the paramount importance of enhancing networking ties with the industry. Furthermore, the potential for "training for trainers" to increase the chances of CML academic staff members becoming IELTS examiners and trainers was also discussed.

In attendance to this discussion were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nik Aloesnita Nik Mohd Alwi (Dean of CML), Dr. Fatimah Ali (Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs), Dr. Umi Kalsom Masrom (Head of Programme - English Language), Dr. Abdullah Adnan Mohamed (Coordinator of the Internationalization and Industry Network Unit), Ms. Nor Ashikin Sulaiman (Senior Executive), as well as Ms. Najjahul Huda Hassan and Mr. Hafis Hafifi Karim from the CML Technical Unit.

It is anticipated that through this dialogue and visit, CML can cultivate and broaden its industry connections. If successfully implemented, this proposal is expected to yield significant benefits for the progress of education and the enhancement of quality in the execution of the IELTS Computer-Based Exam especially to academic staff and dual-degree students who plan to further their studies abroad. Active engagement with the industry will open new opportunities, strengthen effective collaborations, and contribute to the creation of a more dynamic and relevant learning environment. This aligns seamlessly with CML's commitment to continuously elevate educational standards and provide the best opportunities for students.
