MUET BRIEFING TO EMPOWER FOUNDATION STUDENTS IN PROGRAM ASPIRASI GEMILANG (AST)

February 5, 2024 - In a dedicated effort to equip the Foundation of Science and Technology students who are currently in Semester 2, 2023/2024 with essential language skills, the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) Competency Unit was invited by the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM) for a slot on the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) under the Program Aspirasi Gemilang (AST) which took place at the Executive Lounge, UMPSA Library Pekan.

Ms. Noraisah Nurul Fatwa Mohd Razali, the Competency Unit Coordinator took the lead in delivering an insightful session on how to effectively prepare for the MUET. She shared invaluable tips and techniques by referring to a few samples of MUET papers for all four components. The briefing aimed to empower students with the necessary skills to excel in MUET which is one of the crucial requirements for academic study. 

During the briefing, Ms. Noraisah emphasized the importance of understanding the format and requirements of each MUET component which are Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. She provided detailed insights into effective preparation strategies, including recommended study materials and practice techniques. Additionally, Ms. Noraisah shared valuable tips on time management during the test and offered guidance on tackling common challenges that students might face. The session was interactive when students came forward to ask questions and seek clarification on specific areas of concern.

All in all, Ms. Noraisah expressed her confidence that with an adequate preparation and a strong commitment to honing their language skills, the Foundation of Science and Technology students will not only be able to conquer the challenges of the MUET, but also emerge as eloquent communicators ready to excel in their academic pursuits. The Centre for Modern Languages remains steadfast in its support, ensuring that every student is well-equipped for success in their journey at UMPSA.
