Community Service Programme with the Malaysian Army

24 September 2020 – Community Service Unit successfully conducted a one-day programme named, “Speak Up”, with a group of army personnel from Markas 4 Briged (Mekanize), Kem Batu 10, Kuantan. The programme was held at two language labs in Block X, UMP Gambang. About 25 members of the brigade (mostly non-commissioned officers) participated in the programme which aims to build up their confidence in English communication.

The instructors involved in conducting the programme were Ms Hanisah, Ms Alia Najaa, Ms Nurul Nadia and Mr Shamsul. Throughout the programme, the participants were exposed to various aspects of conversational skills in English especially on the use of appropriate language expressions which may be useful in order to communicate effectively in the social milieu. The military officers also participated in fun activities like language games, impromptu speeches, group discussions and role plays. Hopefully, by attending this programme, the participants would feel more comfortable to communicate in the language. Let’s hope that these army officers will also have the nerves of steel when it comes to using English!
