RCP 2021 WEBINAR: INTRODUCTION TO LITERARY COMPONENTS

13 AUGUST 2021 – A webinar on literary components was held as part of the UHL2442 Essential English course and in conjunction with the Reading Circle Programme 2021. It was a joint venture between the Language Support Unit of Centre for Modern Languages and UHL2442 Essential English course.

The panelists involved were Dr. Wan Jumani Fauzi and her two former students of UHN 2523 Elements of Craft, an Open Specialisation Programme Certificate (SPPT) course. Nurul Ishafira and Chong Beng Wei together with Dr. Wan Jumani herself had triumphantly sparked the participants’ interest to get involved in the detailed discussion on the five elements of literature namely plot, setting, characterisation, theme, and value. It would be no exaggeration to say that the webinar was a great success and very interactive as students kept on littering the chat box with their apt responses and thought-stimulating questions. On a side note, the panel members were taken by surprise at the situation and they were of course delighted to entertain the endless queries from the audience.

The webinar took place within a span of 1.5 hours and beautifully ended with an encouragement given to the participants on experiencing reading from different perspectives so as to broaden their horizon.
