SHARING SESSION: DIGITAL CONTENT CREATION

14 January 2022 – The very first series of sharing sessions this year entitled “Digital Content Creation” was conducted virtually by the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) for its associates on this blessed Friday morning. The main objective of this sharing session is to expose the CML associates with some useful information regarding the creation of digital content. For that reason, two renowned speakers in this field, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hamdan bin Daniyal, the Dean of Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology and Dr Azwin Arif bin Abdul Rahim, the Head of Technical & Services, CML were invited to share their experience and some valuable input on this topic.

At the beginning of Assoc. Prof. Dr Hamdan’s session, he highlighted something important that we could have overlooked all this while. He said that in the current situation where e-learning is concerned, the main question should not be on its effectiveness but rather on how e-learning should be utilised to deliver the learning outcomes effectively. With that mindset, we will be able to come out with better strategies and make necessary preparations. In his 30-minute session, he shared his bittersweet journey in finding his ‘root’ that led to the establishment of Educreator Studio at his faculty which has been operating since August 2020. With the skills and experience gained throughout his exploration, he continues to inspire and guide others who have interest in this area.

Meanwhile, Dr Azwin Arif’s session focused on the use of technological device in creating digital content. Certified as a Professional Learning Provider and Apple Teacher, he shed light on what the Ipad has to offer to its users with regards to digital content creation. He also shared a few samples of engrossing digital animations that were fully produced using the device. Towards the end of his session, he emphasised that the creators are at liberty to produce any digital content - be it live stream, rapid production video, animation or others. It depends on the strength and skills that we possess, as well as our own preference. All in all, it is a very informative session and will surely inspire more CML associates to produce their own digital content soon!
